The configuration is designed to be located on surface ships or vessels and will provide reliable communication in any one of the “ship-to-coast”, “ship-to-ship” or “ship-to-mobile node” applications. These stations will support a data transmission rate from 4.8 to 512 kbps.

The station contains:
- 1 (or 2) radome covered gyrostabilized antenna with mounting post
- Under-deck hardware configuration (mounted in cabinet)
- Videoconferencing hardware
- Uninterruptible AC power supply
- Encoding hardware for signal security
The station provides reliable communication under the following conditions:
- Rolling ± 30 degrees with a period of 6 to 8 sec
- Pitching ± 25 degrees with a period of 6 to 8 sec
- Oscillation ± 8 degrees with a period of 20 sec
- Wind loads up to 60 mps
- Shock and Vibration effects of ship munitions functioning, if applicable
